A professor invited us to host at his house in February of ‘24. That night changed our lives. We fell in love with hosting dinners. But more than anything, we fell in love with the hospitality that we could layer on top. Personalized invitations, hand written notes, even just refilling glasses. It all felt like a lost art we had rediscovered in the noise of Los Angeles.
We knew by our third dinner that we had found something that’d wake us up smiling as long as we kept doing them. So we did.
All we care about is creating space for exceptional people to have meaningful conversations and authentically befriend each other. That’s it. Since starting, we’ve evolved into a space to bring together risk taking, talented, and highly ambitious young people working on meaningful things. Fashion, music, media, film, startups, we’ve been lucky to find our guests from all over.
For each dinner, we invite 30 strangers to join us at a venue they’ve never been to (we try our best), to meet 29 people (who we never disclose), and they each have to come alone. No exceptions. It’s a tough sell, we know. But for the ones who buy in, you aren’t buying a ticket to an experience, your individual attendance is fundamentally required to make the experience. You aren’t just a name on our list, the whole thing revolves around you being there.
For each volume, we also welcome a set of highlights. Some assortment of a chef, musician, artist, actor, founder, or designer to share work and tell their story. All our highlights are also guests at the table. It helps us curate an environment for mutual admiration, so there’s never a guest-performer dynamic.
We’re now proudly the source of some very cool collaborations, startups, friendships, and even a few relationships (If you find love, we’re giving a toast at your wedding, thanks)
Hopefully we’ll have the privilege of refilling your glass soon.
Cheers,
Jake & Sophia
